WORDS FROM THE RECTOR
The National Evangelical University (UNEV), up to 24 years of social work for the benefit of student segments with low economic potential to become a university.
Founded on July 30, 1986, the UNEV society has given nearly five thousand graduates, and today has an enrollment of 15,000 students, three campuses and an agroforestry extension in Villa Altagracia, San Cristobal.
In 2009, the UNEV was internationally recognized for his social work for the marginalized and socially excluded. This commitment and the social commitment in their work emphasizes the preferential option for the poor, equality of opportunity for all, has earned the recognition of the UNEV Dominican family. Hence, it is common to see rows of buses that parade, the capital city and all regions of the country, to the precincts that keeps this institution in Santo Domingo and Santiago.
The contributions of evangelical academia are multiple, we must refer first to the more visible, that is, keep their doors open so that the poor sectors and middle class have access to higher education permeated with values.
Leaving addressing the social and the technical-scientific, we must not forget that one of the great contributions of the nation was UNEV create a platform for training (CAST) to educate the Dominicans in the production of organic items.
Different national and international institutions, such as CONACADO, Loma Quita Espuela Fundation, Jaragua Group , progressions and an endless list of environmental institutions, benefited from the "KNOW HOW" transferred by the university, with more than 20,000 small farmers trained in production methods and organic farming, one line every day makes us more competitive in international markets.
With a large body of relevant research in the line above, the evangelical academy begins in this first investigation momentola in precision agriculture, which aims to transform desert soil and salinized land suitable for the production of food crops and biodiesel in the Valley Neyba and surrounding areas of high social deprivation. The proposal is funded by the National Fund for Innovation and Scientific and Technological Development (FONDOCYT), Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology.
The mainstream media, print media and various institutions, councils of churches and other ONGs have external public for their support and congratulations to the Academy that constitutes a paradigm and a reference in the higher education system in the Dominican Republic.
